Obituary

Judith Bledsoe, 77, of Columbus died Sunday, May 13, 2018, at the Columbus Care & Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at the Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, with The Rev. Stephen Stout officiating. Interment will be in the Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Judith was born June 14, 1940, in Columbus to Roy and June (Tusler) Stone. She attended school in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High School. Judy married George Sherwin and was married from 1957 – 1972. To this union four children were born, they lived in Lincoln for many years. In 1984, Judy married Edward Bledsoe. They remained married until Ed passed away in 1990. Judy lived most her adult life in Omaha where she was a manager for Mister Donut and later was a seamstress for J.C. Penney. She retired in 1993.

She was a talented seamstress, painter and enjoyed quilting and all types of craftwork. She was an avid reader and loved doing her bible studies. She loved spiritual, gospel and country music. She loved to sing and belonged to the church choir in her youth. Judy moved back to Columbus in 2011.

Judith is survived by her son, John (Teresa) Sherwin of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; daughter Anna Weber Sherwin of Nixa, Missouri; daughter Mary (Peter) Pelletier of Arlington, Texas; daughter Lori (Jim) Ellison of Columbus, grandchildren John (Tasha) Cleveland, Crystle (Douglas) Cooney, Stephanie (Chris) Bricknerand Danielle Pelletier; great-grandchildren Taylor, Brayden, & Carter CooneyKayden Pelletier; Caleb & Elliott Brickner; Aiden, Kyley, & Janice Cleveland and many nieces and nephews.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & June Stone, husbands Edward Bledsoe & George Sherwin, brother Donald Stone and sisters Marjorie Pearson, Gloria Janssen, Betty Kassmeyer and Shirley Kallweit.
