Evangeline Reick, 86 of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Shell Creek Baptist Church in rural Columbus with Rev. Nathan Witt officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Thursday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Thursday at 10:15 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church, Columbus Public Library or the donor's choice.

Evangeline Reick was born June 16, 1920 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to Walter and Elsie (Krause) Wetgen. She attended District #72 Grand Prairie Township grade school and graduated from Kramer High School. She worked at home until her marriage to Clarence Reick on September 18, 1946 at Shell Creek Baptist Church. They lived in Texas while Clarence was stationed in the service, and then moved to Omaha, Nebraska. In 1953 they moved to the family farm northwest of Columbus. Evangeline enjoyed reading and keeping up on current events. She was an avid gardener and a great cook. She was especially proud of her two granddaughters. Evangeline was a member of Shell Creek Baptist Church.
