David Zybach, 65, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, February 5, 2018.

The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Lassen officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM and continue on Friday from 1:00 PM until service time, all at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery. Memorials are those of the family's choice.

David L. Zybach was born on June 12, 1952, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Walter and Marjorie (Killham) Zybach Sr. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1970. He was married to Jody Zerr on April 22, 1972, and to this union two daughters were born. He worked for 45 years at Nebraska Public Power District, serving as an Engineering Specialist until his retirement in 2017. Dave was united in marriage to Jill Petersen at their home on June 29, 2002.

Dave loved the outdoors. One of his favorite places to spend his time was out at his land, on the Loup River, with his best friend Rudy working on his windmill, building deer stands and hunting with family. When it came to projects, indoor and outdoor, he was always there to help in the time of need or just to remise. Nebraska Husker football was always in his sights, never missing an opportunity to watch the game with family and friends. He loved spending time with his children and was so very proud of his grandchildren, never missing an activity they were involved in.
