William "Bill" Reynolds

William “Bill” H. Reynolds, 82, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Saturday, July 18, 2026, at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota.

William Herbert Reynolds was born on January 18, 1944, in Minot, North Dakota, to John and Wilma (Zimmerman) Reynolds. He grew up in Minot and graduated from high school there in 1961. In October of 1961, Bill entered the United States Navy and served on active duty until October of 1967, at which time he transferred to the Reserves, where he served until 2002, retiring with the rank of Captain. During his time in the military he was deployed to The Gulf War, stationed on the island of Bahrain from 1990 – 1991.

After his active-duty military service, Bill attended Minot State University, University of Arkansas, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with his degree in Physical Therapy. His family moved to northeast Nebraska, where he worked as a physical therapist and founded Overland Rehab in 1996, in Creighton, Nebraska. He owned and operated Overland Rehab until his retirement in 2006.

On February 14, 1998, Bill was united in marriage to Frances (Miller) Werkmeister in Spearfish, South Dakota. The couple moved to Custer, South Dakota in 2005 and lived there until moving to Columbus in 2019.

Bill was an avid sports fan, enjoying football, basketball, baseball and golf. He coached American Legion Baseball for many years. He also enjoyed his motorcycles.
