Weylin John
Wurdeman
October 3, 1951 – September 17, 2025
It is with deep sadness the family of Weylin Wurdeman shares with you his passing on September 17th at the age of 73. Weylin left the world surrounded by family after a courageous 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer. His strong faith helped carry him through this and many other trial in life.
Weylin was born on October 3, 1951 to Ray and Mildred (Korte) Wurdeman. Weylin was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1970. Following high school, Weylin enlisted in the Navy where he proudly spent 8 years serving at Moffett Naval Air Station in San Diego with deployment to Adak Alaska, Guam, and Puerto Rico. After the Navy he served locally with the Army Reserves. He was so very proud to serve his country.
After his years in the service, he went to work at Ernst Auto Center. He later worked as a salesman for Laverne Truck Equipment for 34 years. After retiring, he drove truck for Ag Spray Equipment, and loved it.
Weylin married Sheryl Kluever, to that union Gina Marie was born. Weylin then married Dianne Engstrom in April of 1982. They were blessed with 2 wonderful sons, Kyle and Dillan, along with helping to raise Gina. These 3 children were their pride and joy!!
Weylin enjoyed hunting, camping, 4 wheeling and tractor pulling. He often talked about how being with family were his most precious memories. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and used his bragging rights to its fullest.
Weylin was a "people" person and could make friends wherever he went. Dianne often remarked that seldom did they go anywhere that Weylin didn't know someone. He had a friendly and joking personality along with the warmest and biggest heart.
He had a terrific sense of humor and could brighten up any situation. He was always willing to help others and was loved by so many. Weylin's legacy lives on in the love he gave.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Dianne Wurdeman; daughter Gina (Scott) Olson of Columbus, grandchildren Brandan and Virginia Olson; son Kyle (Kyrstin) Wurdeman of Crestview, Florida, grandchildren Kylar and Kymber; son Dillan (Chelsey) Wurdeman of Platte Center, grandson Dax. Brother's Keith (Donna) Wurdeman, Alan (Kathy) Wurdeman, and Andy (Sue) Wurdeman, along with many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Weylin was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Mildred Wurdeman, grandson Benjamin John Olson, brother Larry Wurdeman, sister Clarice Wurdeman, nephew Brandon Wurdeman.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, at 10:30 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Patrick Sparling officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time, all at the church. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by The American Legion, Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family or those of the donors choice.
