Steve Gaver

Steven J. Gaver, 67, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, at 10:30 AM at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus, with Rev. Adam Lassen officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, from 5 - 7 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home, and on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Family interment with military honors will be held in Columbus Cemetery at a later date.

Steven James Gaver was born on June 2, 1959, in Columbus, Nebraska to Paul and Dorothy (Michaelsen) Gaver. Steve grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1977. Shortly after graduation Steve entered the Army, where he served his country for six years, obtaining the rank of Sergeant.  Following his military service he returned to Columbus. He worked for a short time for Jerome Nauenburg Construction, for approximately 20 years at CK Planing Mill, and then worked for 10 years at Nebraska Public Power District until his retirement.

Steve loved to hunt ducks. He loved to spend his free time making memories in the duck blind with family and friends. Steve enjoyed a good party, wedding, or family reunion with family and friends.
