Shirley Jean Welling, 88, of Albion, Nebraska, died Friday, August 15, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society in Albion.  A private family memorial service will be held.

Shirley was born on April 9, 1937, to Ambrose and Garnet (Sims) Welling in Baden, Pennsylvania.  Shirley grew up in Vallejo, California.  Shirley enjoyed participating in sports, especially softball.  Shirley attended school in Vallejo and graduated from Vallejo High School.

As a young adult Shirley moved to Amarillo, Texas, and then to Dallas with her husband and three small children.  Shirley spent just shy of 20 years working for the Dallas Police Department doing data entry.
In 2007 Shirley moved to Nebraska to be closer to her daughters, Teri and Deborah.  Shirley was an avid reader, loved all types of music, enjoyed traveling and was always ready to go anywhere, and had a great sense of humor.

Daughter – Teri (Norm) Mangelsen of St. Edward, NE
Daughter – Deborah (Gaylen) Parsons of Henderson, TX
Grandchildren – Kevin Sleeper, Sheryl Sleeper, and Ben Johnson
Brother – Charles "Chuck" Welling

Shirley was preceded in death by –
Son – Oral "Buster" Wineinger
Parents – Ambrose and Garnet Welling
Siblings – Ruth, Dorothy, and Tom
