Obituary

Shirley Staab, 72, of Rising City, Nebraska, died Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 4 at 10:00 AM, at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Cory Burma officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the church.  Interment will be in Kansas.  Memorial may be directed to those of the family choice.

Shirley was born December 25, 1950, in Newton, Kansas, to Marvin and Betty (Smith) McClure.  She graduated from high school in Wichita, Kansas, and on August 4, 1973, was united in marriage to Ken Staab in Wichita.  They were blessed with two children.  The family lived in the Wichita area for many years before relocating to Nebraska in 1993.  Shirley worked at the Genoa Bank, Genoa, Nebraska for many years.  While the family lived in Genoa, Shirley was also part of the Genoa Rescue Crew.  Shirley's final job was working at the Immanuel Lutheran Daycare, which was a job that she truly loved.  Shirley enjoyed crocheting and working Sudoku's, but especially loved her time with her grandchildren.  She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Daughter – Kenna Staab of York, NE
Grandchildren – Katelynn Darling, Kinsey Cavalli, and Kendrick Zelazny
Son – Keith (Betty) Staab of Columbus, NE
Grandchildren – Kierstin and Keiton Staab
Sister – Judy (Mike) Wilhite of Park City, KS
Brother – James (Theresa) McClure of Wichita, KS
Sister – Angie Smith of Wichita, KS
Two great-grand dogs
Many nieces and nephews

Shirley was preceded in death by:
Father – Marvin McClure
Mother - Betty McClure
Husband – Ken Staab
