Ruth Carlson, 94, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society in Albion, Nebraska.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 27 at the First United Methodist Church in Genoa with Pastor Connie Kramer officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and continue on Friday, from 10:00 AM until service time, all at the church. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.

Ruth Anne Carlson was born July 1, 1928 at Genoa Nebraska to her parents, Frank and Mildred (Meyer) Purvis. She graduated from Fullerton High School in 1945. She remained at home to care for her ailing parents until 1949, when she was united in marriage to Kermit Carlson. She was a homemaker and partner in farming, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lifetime member of the Genoa U.S. Indian School Foundation and the Nance County Museum and a member of the Genoa United Methodist Church for 82 Years.

Ruth is survived by six children; Carla (Dave) Mohr, Jerry (Nancy) Carlson, Don (Jannelle) Carlson, Marty Carlson, Tony (Sandy) Carlson, Bonnie (Rex) Knopik and daughter-in-law Diane Carlson. 15 grandchildren, Jennifer (Curt) Sorensen, Marne (Allen) Stenzel, Jon (Audrey) Mohr, Natalee (Jeremy) Elliott, Kelsey (Rodger) Melcher, Lacie (Josh) Ruppert, Shelbi (Nicolas) Villabol, Bethany (Chase) Graham, Karri (Mike) Neumann, Cherri (Jesse) Thieman, Luke (Stephanie) Carlson, Brock Carlson, Ben (Ashley) Carlson, Trevor (Kendra) Knopik, Cameron (Connie) Knopik. 24 great-grand children and many caring nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ruth in death was her husband Kermit and son James Lee. Parents Frank & Mildred Purvis, sisters Margaret Mason & Bonnie Zarek and in-laws Robert Mason, Delbert Zarek, Robert & Lillian Carlson, Vincent & Doris Carlson, Inge & Leland Cieloha, Ruth & Tom Brown. Grandparents Will & Maggie Meyer and Frank and Margaret Purvis.
