Born December 23rd,1955, in O'Neil, Nebraska, she grew up in Chambers. She was raised by parents LaVern (Bernie) and Darleen (Young) Hoerle, as well as neighbor Eva Fauquier and the entire community. She was an independent, spirited youngster who was a bit naughty. Even as a young person, she was a feminist in her thinking. She left the small town to go to Lincoln, NE, and study at Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she made wonderful friends, including her husband, Steve, who she married on May 24th, 1980, in Lincoln. In 1981 they moved to Columbus.
Rosie dedicated her life to creating a world free from violence. Her efforts led to the establishment of the Center for Survivors, a vital advocate center in Columbus. Later, she served as the TRiO Director at Central Community College, assisting disadvantaged students until her retirement in July 2020. Her life was a testament to passion, action, and perseverance.
She was an avid reader, movie watcher, and entertainment guru. She loved playing games. She was a loyal, entertaining friend who enjoyed having fun. But she always listened and cared. She cried much, she laughed more.
Rosie is survived by her husband Steven, her loving son Benjamin, her daughter-in-law Lorie, and her grandsons Thomas and Noel, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; her brother Denis Hoerle and wife Debbie of Casper, Wyoming; her sister Nancy Carter and husband Greg of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant, and multiple family pets.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be held at Federated Church, with Rev. Dr. Edward Yang officiating. The family will be available to greet guests from 11:30 a.m. until the start of the service on June 1st at the church.
Her life can be celebrated by singing, laughing, telling funny stories, praising God, and being kind to all.
In lieu of flowers, plants, stones, etc., memorials are suggested to the Center for Survivors or the Federated Church in Columbus.
