Ronald Went was born December 11, 1940, in Columbus, to Elmer and Hilda (Groteluschen) Went. He graduated from Creston High School in 1958 and soon after married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Rae Ann (Malena) on July 24, 1960 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Creston.
Ron and Rae Ann celebrated 65 years of marriage, spending those years raising their family on their farm outside of Creston, Nebraska. Ron was a devoted father to five children, a loving grandfather to nine grandchildren, and a proud great-grandfather to soon-to-be 18 great-grandchildren. Together, Ron and Rae Ann found great joy in loving and supporting their family. Whether attending sporting events, 4-H activities, school programs, graduations, birthdays, or celebrations big and small, they were always side by side, cherishing every moment. Ron took special pride in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. Farming and raising cattle were lifelong passions for Ron. He especially treasured the time spent working alongside his two sons and two grandsons, sharing their love for farming and ranching. Ron lived most of his life in Creston before "retiring" to Columbus in 2008. Even then, retirement didn't slow him down, he continued driving out to the farm daily for many years, finding particular enjoyment in cutting, raking, and baling hay.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Rae Ann (Malena) Went of Columbus; children Ryan (Jan) Went and Rory (Kelli) Went; sons-in-law Jeff (Sandy) Muhle and Ron (Linda) Klink; 9 grandchildren Jenna (Aaron) Schaben, Jordan (Wesley) Wetovick, Blaine (Cody Little) Muhle, Judd (Alyssa) Went, Danielle (Jordan) Wilke, Brea (Josh) Goodenkauf, Cale (Kim) Went, Elle (Josh) Klink-Kloppel, and Eastyn Klink; and 18 great-grandchildren Madden Schaben, Linden Schaben, Ryvr Goodenkauf, Stetsyn Wilke, Hayes Wetovick, Kollins Went, Sterling Wilke, Berkley Went, Harlow Wetovick, Braylynn Went, Korbyn Went, Revly Goodenkauf, Bronx Went, Jaxx Kloppel, Ryatt Goodenkauf, Roman Schaben, Colby Went, and soon to be Baby Kloppel; as well as siblings Sharon (Bob) May, Terry Went, Gerolyn Went, and Jan (Steve) Mckelvey.
Ron was met in heaven by his parents Elmer and Hilda Went, daughters Rhonda Went, Reva (Went) Muhle, and Rikki (Went) Klink, sister Jamie (Went) Prochaska, and sister-in-law Linda Went.
