Roger "Beetlejuice" Effa, 66, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, June 22, 2023 at CHI Health Immanuel in Omaha, Nebraska after a sudden onset of castastrophic illness.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Roger William Effa was born September 17, 1956 in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. He was the much anticipated first born child of parents William Effa and Ruth (Geary) Effa. He was joined by siblings Robert (Christel), Randy (Dien), and Marianne (Terry Miller).

As the son of a Baptist minister, he attended several churches in his youth and he was baptized by his father at First Baptist Church, in Sidney, Montana, on May 25th 1966. His family moved to rural Columbus in 1970 and he graduated in 1974 from Lakeview High school. His vocational life was spent as a truck driver and working in area factories. For many years he enjoyed being the guy a person called to pick up scrap and junk. Eventually his health prevented him from regular work. His loves included cats and special little dog, Chickie. He won several Halloween costume contests as the character of "Beetlejuice", earning that nickname that he very much enjoyed. In recent years he and his mother shared their home and his presence and assistance was a great comfort to her especially, after his father died in 2019.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, William.

Roger is survived by his mother Ruth, his siblings, his nieces Rachel Effa(Pat Case) and Jessica Conley (Lance) , his nephew Randy Jr. and his great-nieces Karen Effa and Layna Conley.
