Bob Bartholomew of Columbus, Nebraska, a devoted husband, loving father, gifted carpenter, and man of deep faith, passed away on 23 February 2026 at the age of 86, at the Genoa LTC in Genoa, Nebraska. His life was marked by strength, unwavering devotion to his family, and a steadfast commitment to his craft, community, and beliefs.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 4 at 10:30 AM, at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus with Fr. Patrick Harrison celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil Service at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 AM until Mass time. Memorials are suggested as those of the donor's choice.
Bob was born April 5, 1939, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Lloyd Sr. and Margaret "Braun" Bartholomew. The family moved to Columbus, Nebraska where Bob attended St. Bonaventure School. On August 3, 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Nancy Roth in Glenwood, Iowa.
He cherished his wife, Nancy, and took immense pride in his children, whom he guided with love and integrity. His family was the center of his world, and his greatest joy came from the time he spent with them.
An avid waterfowl hunter, he held a profound respect for the outdoors. The traditions of the hunt were more than a pastime for him; they were a source of connection and reflection. Equally at home on the open road, he was a proud motorcycle enthusiast who found freedom and camaraderie in every ride.
Bob also served as a volunteer firefighter, offering his time and courage to protect and support those around him. His willingness to step forward in moments of need reflected the selflessness and quiet strength that defined him.
As a carpenter of exceptional skill, he poured his heart into every project he touched. His craftsmanship stood as a testament to his precision, dedication, and the pride he took in honest work.
His faith was the foundation upon which he built his life. It guided his decisions, shaped his values, and sustained him through both challenges and blessings. He lived his beliefs with quiet conviction—through kindness, generosity, and a steady presence that uplifted those around him.
He is survived by his children (Michael (Susan), Patrick, Timothy (Christine), and Paul (Karen)), eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and many family members who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, and his siblings, Lloyd and Laverna.
He will be remembered for the love he shared, the work he created, the values he exemplified, and the profound impact he left on those who knew him.
