Robert George, 77, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, June 9, 2025, at his home in Columbus.

A private family service will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home with military honors by The American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard.  There will be a public visitation with the family on Monday, June 16 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home.

Robert George was born September 10, 1947, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Robert and Geraldine "Gerri" (Hattel) George.  He attended Columbus Public School and graduated from Columbus High School.  On September 9, 1966, Robert entered the United Sate Army serving during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged on September 8, 1969.  Robert was united in marriage to Susan Golden.

Robert was a carpenter who was very creative and could make anything.  He loved to fish and was a father figure to many.  He was famous for his "dad" jokes and telling colorful stories.
