Robert Dennis Faltys, 92, of Norfolk, Nebraska, formerly of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Norfolk Veterans Home.
Funeral services at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson are pending.
Bob was born January 4, 1934, in Schuyler, Nebraska, to Robert E. and Esther (Novotny) Faltys. He was baptized and confirmed at New Zion Presbyterian Church and was a life-long member. He graduated from Clarkson Public Schools in 1951 and was active in sports.
Bob married Frances Brdicko on July 27, 1954, and made their home on a farm southeast of Clarkson where they raised their family, tended to livestock and tilled the land. During their early years of marriage, the couple traveled to El Paso, Texas and Wiesbaden, Germany for Bob's service in the United States Army. He enlisted on October 22, 1954 and was honorably discharged on October 1, 1956.
Bob was especially concerned with conservation farming practices and was an early adaptor of contour farming, terracing and minimum tillage. Bob served on a number of soil conservation boards and received numerous awards for outstanding land stewardship. He provided leadership on church committees as an elder and trustee.
Bob was a member of the VFW and American Legion. In his spare time, Bob would umpire baseball games and play trumpet in the town band. He especially enjoyed repurposing old equipment and building materials into new and useful machinery. Duct tape, baling wire and a welder were his favorite tools.
Survivors include is son - Gary (Lynne) Faltys and their children, Tara (Dan), Brad (Melinda) and Brian (Joanna); son - Ricky (Debra) Faltys and their children, Allison (Cory), Mikayla (Jordan) and Melanie (Aaron) and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Frances in 2025, parents and a sister.
