Richard "Rick" F. Bosak, 70, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Public visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Dress code suggested is that of what Rick would have wanted - pocketed T-shirt, cut off jean shorts and sandals. Private family burial will take place.

Rick was born June 2, 1956, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Frank and Della (Volnek) Bosak.  He attended Columbus Public School except for his sophomore year of high school when he attended the Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO.  Rick graduated from Columbus High School in 1975.  He entered the United States Air Force, but was discharged early because of a back injury.  Rick had been married to Lillie R. Fox and Linda Lesiak.  

Richard, best known as Rick, was one of those men who wasn’t afraid of being himself. He loved his country and always supported the military, but especially the Army. He has more pride in his children, Diana and Wade, for their military careers than they will ever know. Rick always had a way with jokes; if you knew him, you would likely think of one of them now. He said what was on his mind, and usually it was inappropriate, but it was too funny not to crack a smile. He brought so many smiles and laughs into the faces and hearts of the family that was blessed to be with him, even right until his final moments. “Err–EE Err–EE” could be heard from Rick anytime he needed to break the silence, knowing a rumbling laugh from everyone would follow. The memories and laughs will be talked about for years to come, and through these, he will live on. We will miss Rick more than words can write, and we love you to heaven's gates and back.

Granddaughter - Ila Williscraft
Grandson - Tristan Vazquez
Sister - Eileen Carr of Bennington, NE
Brother-in-law - Ken Osborne
