Your Work Here Is Done

The fences are fixed.
The tractor's in the shed.
The hogs are loaded.
The cattle are fed.

The corn is picked.
The Farmall is restored.
You loved your family,
Your Grandkids, you adored.

The hay is baled,
And ready to haul out.
You donated bales to ranchers,
Who were going through a drought.

Coffee was shared.
Your jokes are all told.
Your stories will be treasured
Forever like gold.

The fish are caught.
The kids are taught.
The memories are all good.
You took care of Mom as long as you could.

You were a good Marine.
You waved your flag high.
You urged people to stand, don't kneel,
To honor those who have died.

You were loved by many.
To me, you were Number One.
You had a good life, Dad.
Your work here is done.
