Richard Lange, 74, of David City, Nebraska, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Butler County Health Care Center in David City.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 5, at 10:00 AM at Word of Life Church in Columbus, with Rev. Mariano Menendez officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue Monday, from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Private family interment will be in Shell Creek Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Columbus Christian School or Nebraska Christian School.

Richard William Lange was born on September 15, 1949, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Bert and Jennie (DeBoer) Lange. He grew up in Columbus and attended country school and later graduated from Nebraska Christian School in Central City, Nebraska. He also attended North American Baptist College in Canada and Platte College in Columbus.  Richard was united in marriage to Sharon McClanahan on August 31, 1979 at the First Baptist Church in Centerville, Iowa.

Through the years, Richard farmed and worked at various local factories including, Appleton, Behlen, and Camaco. He also worked at Scrub Car Wash and later drove the Columbus Area Transit bus. Richard loved music and was an excellent organist. He enjoyed reading his Bible, loved his cats and dogs, and especially loved spending time with his grandsons.
