Richard "Rich" Carman, 78, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Saturday, September 9, 2023, at his home in Genoa.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 15, at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus, Nebraska, with Rev. Lee Weander officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, from 10:00 AM until service time, also at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 18, at Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
Richard Earl Carman was born on May 17, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, to Roy and Melba (Kelley) Carman. He attended school in Augusta, Kansas, until his family moved to Sidney, Nebraska, while he was in high school. Rich graduated from Sidney High School in 1963. He entered the United States Army on February 8, 1966, and served until his honorable discharge on January 24, 1969.
On December 7, 1974, Rich was united in marriage to Joan Edwards in Sidney. The couple moved all over the state of Nebraska as Rich worked in many different types of construction testing, including roadwork, bridges, and large building projects. The couple moved to Genoa in 2014. Rich was an avid reader and history buff. He also enjoyed hunting and attending military events such as air shows.
