Obituary

Peggy L. Wilke, 96, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Friday, December 5, 2025, in Lincoln.

A private family service will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home.  Public visitation will be on Wednesday, December 10 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home.  Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery, rural Genoa, Nebraska.  Memorials are suggested to Christ Lincoln Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.

Peggy L. Wilke was born February 7, 1929, in Genoa, Nebraska, to Elmer and Mabel (Haldiman) Swanson.  She attended District 62 grade school and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1946.  On August 28, 1953, Peggy was united in marriage to Gordon Wilke at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus.  Over the years, Peggy worked at Goodrich Dairy, Columbus Manor, and Schwesers.  Gordon was killed in an accident south of Columbus in July 1974.  Peggy moved to Lincoln in 2000 to be closer to her children.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her bible and working crossword puzzles.  Peggy was a past member of Christ Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus and was currently a member of Christ Lincoln Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Daughter – Lynn (John) Hilger of Lincoln, NE
Daughter – Lori (Seth) Knego of Lincoln, NE
Son – Brad Wilke of Lincoln, NE
Son – Scott (Lisa) Wilke of Lincoln, NE
Son – Mitchell Wilke of Lincoln, NE
Two Grandchildren and Four Great-Grandchildren

Peggy was preceded in death by:
Parents -Elmer and Mabel Swanson
Husband – Gordon Wilke (July 1974)
Sister – Phyllis Brock
Infant Sister – Betty Swanson
