Nova Ruth Nole, 88 years of age, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25th at the Genoa Long Term Care Center.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 30 at 10:30 AM at Gruetli Cemetery, rural Monroe, Nebraska, with Pastor Connie Kramer officiating.  The family will be gathering at St. Rose of Lima Hall for lunch after the service.  All are welcome.

Nova was born January 2, 1935, in Monessen, PA to Edward Lionel Smith and Thelma Elizabeth (Lochrie) Smith. She was one of 4 children. Nova graduated from Monessen High School.

Nova married John (Jack) Thomas Nole II in 1953 and they were blessed with 5 children. Jack was in the Air Force for 22 years, which led the family to make their home in many different locations, including Texas, Libya, New Hampshire, Turkey, Mississippi, Montana, Philippines, and Nebraska. Nova often parented the children alone during Jacks tours in Korea, the Cuban Crisis and Vietnam. Nova's passion for travel, curiosity about diverse cultures, organizational skills, and pragmatic nature made her ideal for the role of a military spouse.

Jack's final military assignment landed the family in Genoa where Nova worked as a medical transcriptionist at the Genoa Hospital. She also did administrative work at the Genoa Public School, and she prided herself in the ability to learn AutoCad which allowed her to work from home for Lindsay Manufacturing. Nova was grounded by family from her early life until her death. She showcased her love of family and gift of hospitality through hosting many sizable family gatherings.

Grandchildren: John T. Nole IV, Jenna Elm, Josh Swanson, Ember Nelson, Rochelle Petefish, Jerrad Swanson, Marcus Nole, Valarie Dozier, D'Neen Czapla, Shira Osantowski, Marinda Baumann, A'Lora Tiaden, Samantha McCarthy and Quentin Tiaden.
