Norma Jean Laudenklos, 98, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, April 10, 2026, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 11:00 AM at First Church of Monroe, in Monroe, Nebraska, with Pastor Mike Gardner officiating. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery at 1:30 PM that afternoon. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church in Monroe. Memorials are suggested to the church or the donor's choice.
Norma Jean Laudenklos was born February 19, 1928, in Newman Grove, Nebraska, to Harry and Agnes (Westerlin) Farrar. She graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1945 and taught in a rural school for two years. In 1948, Jean was united in marriage to Andrew Jasper and moved to Illinois for 18 years, moving back to Nebraska in 1966. She began working at Dale Electronics in January 1967.
Jean married Edward Laudenklos on September 28, 1968, in Monroe. They were faithful members of the Methodist Church in Monroe. Jean retired from Dale Electronics in 1985, and Ed passed away in 1999. Jean was a member of First Church of Monroe, where for years was membership secretary and a member of the Bible study groups. She had also belonged to the Monroe Auxiliary. Jean moved to Crown Villa in Columbus approximately ten years ago and when not able to attend church on Sundays, would watch them on TV.
Jean is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, sister Mildred Ziegler, and brothers Howard, Kenneth, and Eldon Farrar.
