Norene Marie Holmstedt was born on September 4, 1936, in Edgar, Nebraska, to Len and Viola (Brown) Smith. She graduated from Genoa High School. Norene was united in marriage to William Holmstedt on February 19, 1958, in Central City, Nebraska. Norene worked on the farm alongside Bill for many years. She greatly enjoyed reading.
