Nick R. Sachau, 29, of Blair, Nebraska, died Saturday, June 28, 2025, near Ashland, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 11 at 10:00 AM, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey with Fr. Dan Wittrock celebrating the Mass.  Visitation will be on Thursday, July 10 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Vigil Service and Rosary all at the church.  Visitation will continue on Friday, July 11 from 9:00 AM until Mass time, again at the church.  Interment will follow that afternoon in the Southcreek Calvary Cemetery near Ponca, Nebraska.  After the committal service, all are invited for refreshments at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca.  Memorials may be directed to St. Francis Grade School or Archangels High School in Humphrey. Nickolas Ronald Sachau was born July 7, 1995, in Pender, Nebraska, to LeRoy and Cathleen (Sachau) Tellinghusen.  His father died when he was one year old, and he spent the next several years in many communities until he moved in with his uncle and aunt – Deacon Kent and Tina Sachau – at the age of 12.  The family moved to Humphrey, Nebraska, where Nick graduated from St. Francis High School.  Nick loved being a part of this loving family and considered Kent and Tina his parents and their four children as his older siblings.  When he became of legal age, he legally changed his name from Tellinghusen to Sachau.

Nick graduated from Wayne State College and went on to graduate from Creighton University Law School in Omaha.  He worked for Drew Law Firm in Blair, Nebraska, before joining the firm of Sherrets Bruno & Vogt, LLC in Omaha.  Nick enjoyed swimming, sand volleyball, woodworking, doing remodel construction work, and doing mechanical work on his own vehicles.  He enjoyed playing Monopoly, especially with his cousins, and was extremely competitive.
