Nancy Borer

Nancy Borer, 87, formerly of Lindsay, Nebraska, died Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, July 30, at 10:30 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay, with Father Dan Wittrock celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 9:30 AM until service time, also at the church. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery.

Nancy was born in Lindsay on February 11, 1939 to Ruth and Hank Nienaber, the second oldest and only girl, sister to five loving brothers.

Nancy graduated from Lindsay Holy Family in 1957, Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1960, and married Don Borer in 1962 and they started a family in Lindsay.

Nancy was a lifelong caregiver for her and Don’s disabled son Paul, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her parents, and Don throughout their 56 years of marriage.

Nancy’s loves and hobbies were her children and grandchildren, traveling with Don, visiting grandkids, tending to her flowers and plants indoors and out. She was meticulous at recording and journaling her life and life around her and put many hours into creating a history of the genealogy of both her own and Don’s families.

As the only girl with 5 brothers Nancy loved doing thing with her girls; shopping, kitchen beautician, nails, cooking with a glass of wine or a vodka drink in hand, and girl talk with her granddaughter Katie, daughter in law Leilani, and Ann.

Nancy’s story would not be complete without a “Social” for the amazing group of seven women, the “Embassy”, who have done life together for over 35 years. They have supported each other through all of life’s journeys. Celebrating the wins, the losses, the sad, the happy, always with laughter even through the tears. They will hold each other tight and keep remembering.

Nancy lived her life with grace and quiet strength. We mourn the absence of her physical presence in our lives but her love and devotion is always with us.
