Obituary

Monica Becher, 83, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, February 15, 2021, at Genoa Long Term Care, Genoa, Nebraska.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 10:30 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Patrick Sparling and Rev. Chris Ramstad officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Endowment Fund. The funeral service will be broadcast live on Gass Haney Funeral Home Facebook page.

Monica Rose Becher was born October 3, 1937, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Max and Monica (McLeod) Wunderlich. She graduated from Kramer High School in 1955. On December 30, 1956, Monica was united in marriage to Lowell Becher in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Monica worked at Becton Dickinson before the couple moved to Washington for a year and half, returning to Columbus to make their home. Monica worked at the family business – Wunderlich's Bar & Café, Columbus Veterinary Hospital, and Columbus Tour and Travel.

Monica enjoyed traveling, especially cruises. She looked forward to her "Tuesdays" with the girls, Friday nights at the VFW, bowling, camping, and going to her grandchildrens' activities. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and helped deliver "Meals on Wheels". Monica enjoyed watching her children grow into great adults and was very proud of each of their accomplishments.

Son – Jeff (Jolene) Becher of Omaha, NE
Daughter-in-law – Jill (Mick) Bubak of Columbus, NE
13 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren
Sister – Julie Payzant of Omaha, NE
Sister – Janice (Terry) Nosal of Fremont, NE
Brother – Fred (Cindy) Wunderlich of Columbus, NE
Sister – Louise (Jimmy) Smith of Houston, TX
Sister-in-law – Sharon Wunderlich of Arizona City, AZ
Sister-in-law – Sylvia (Lee) Loseke of Columbus, NE
Sister-in-law – Carol Becher of Phoenix, AZ
Her special companion - Bella
