Melvin J. Kiene, 84, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Genoa Long Term Care facility in Genoa, Nebraska.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 5 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home.  Private family interment will be in Columbus Cemetery.

Melvin J. Kiene was born on October 21, 1941, to Melvin O. and Pauline (Huetson) Kiene in Adams, Nebraska. Melvin grew up and went to school in Blue Springs, Nebraska.

On February 20, 1969, Melvin was united in marriage to Rose Mary Workman in Lincoln, Nebraska.  To this union two children were born, Christine and Bryan.  Melvin was a mechanic, and worked at Cargill until retirement.

Melvin enjoyed listening to music, watching old western movies and television shows, working on cars, and tinkering in the garage.  Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Daughter – Christine (Chad) Gaedeke of Columbus, NE
Son – Bryan (Megan) Kiene of Columbus, NE
Granddaughter - Carly Gaedeke
Grandsons – Cade Gaedeke, Evan Kiene, and Graham Kiene
Brothers – Kenny Kiene of Kihei, HI, and Gary Kiene of Lincoln, NE
