Mary Kuhn, 57, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Rev. Cindy Stewart and Pastor Dusty Sprague officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are suggested as those of the donor or family choice.

Mary Kuhn was born August 22, 1956, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Vernon and Lorene (Farmer) Wendt. She graduated from Giltner High School, Giltner, Nebraska, and went on to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. On July 2, 1977, Mary was united in marriage to Russell Kuhn in the First United Methodist Church in York, Nebraska. Mary worked for Bell Medical Clinic in York before they moved to Columbus in March 1979. Mary and Russ opened Nebraskaland Glass where Mary worked for 25 years. In 2007, Mary went to work in human resources for Pillen Family Farms to current.

Mary was a true servant of the Lord. She was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School for 25 years, worked with the youth ministry programs, and served on several committees. Mary made friends with everyone and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Mary enjoyed traveling and visited both coast lines. She would say that sewing was a hobby, but in reality her talents were so sought after that it was like a small business for her. She enjoyed baking and shopping, but her greatest treasures were spending time with family, traveling to any event that involved them, and snuggling her grandchildren.

Brother – Steve (Pat) Wendt of Fremont, NE
