Mary Ann Laudenklos, 95, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Brookestone Acres of Columbus.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 9 at 2:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Pastor Joel Ripke officiating. Interment will be in Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 PM on Tuesday, also at the church. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church.
Mary Ann (Ditter) Laudenklos was born November 5, 1930 in Monroe to Reynold and Mary (Schreiber) Ditter. She attended high school in Monroe and after graduation; she attended Beauty School in Omaha. She married the love of her life, Carroll Laudenklos, on June 6, 1949. Carroll made the US Army a career, so Mary Ann became an Army wife and went with him all over the globe. During this time, they lived in Kansas, Colorado, Germany, Hawaii, and North Carolina. After Carroll retired from the Army, they moved to Columbus. Mary Ann and her sister Kay owned and operated The Country Store in Monroe where her creativity flourished. She was much loved by her entire extended family.
She is survived by her sister, Kay Rupp of Columbus; daughter-in-law Connie Laudenklos, grandson Josh, granddaughter Angie, great-grandchildren Ashley and Grant, and 2 great-great grandchildren all of North Carolina; 4 nieces, 4 nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll; son Larry; brothers and sister-in-laws, Willard (Dawn) Ditter, Leroy (Dorothy Ditter), brother-in law, Lee Rupp and her parents.
