Marvin Podany, 79, of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Saturday, December 16, 2023, at his home in Clarkson.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson with Fr. Matt Gutowski and Fr. Rod Kneifl celebrating the Mass.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM with a 10:30 AM rosary, all at the church.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  The family suggests memorials be made to the Clarkson Christian Daycare, Clarkson Opera House, or SS Cyril & Methodius Church.

Marvin was born January 8, 1944, in Stanton County, Nebraska, to Anton and Libbie (Stoklasa) Podany. He attended school in rural Stanton County and high school in Clarkson, Nebraska. On August 29, 1961, he married the love of his life, Janet Harris.

Marvin was born and raised and lived on a farm north of Clarkson for 70 years, until 2013 when he and Janet retired and moved to Clarkson. Marvin was a farmer and worked at Smeal Manufacturing as a welder for 15 years, while continuing to farm as well. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson, and the Clarkson Commercial Club. He loved camping, traveling, polka music and polka dancing, his family and his dog Sparky, and spending time with his family and friends. He was married to his soulmate Janet for 62 years. They were high school sweethearts and lifetime partners, and they absolutely loved spending time together and with their family.

Marvin is survived by wife Janet, four children: Trish (James) Lenz: Greg (Robyn) Podany: Vicki (Bruce) Orman: Cory Podany. 7 grandchildren including Sarah Lenz, Jacob (Jessica) Orman, Justin Podany, Caleb Orman, Anna (Benny) Stevens, Adam Garton, Grace Lenz, and Tyler Lenz (Fiancé Brandi Simpson). Great grandchildren include Jack and James Orman and Michael, Joshua, Chloe, Ella Stevens. In laws, Jane Podany, Bill and Betty Harris and Bill and Sharon Depetro.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis Podany, and daughter in law Diane Podany.
