Marie C. Korth, 85, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, October 16, 2023, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 21 at 10:00 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay, Nebraska, with Fr. Joe Miksch and Fr. Stan Schmit concelebrating the Mass.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM vigil service at the church.  Visitation will continue Saturday from 9:00 AM until Mass time, also at the church.  Interment will be in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family to be determined later.

Marie was born May 19, 1938, in Platte County, Nebraska, to Joseph and Nell (Dohmen) Backes.  She graduated from Holy Family Catholic School in Lindsay, Nebraska.  On August 18, 1956, she was united in marriage to Raymond Korth at Lindsay Holy Family Catholic Church.  For almost 50 years Marie & Ray made their home on a farm near St. Bernard where they raised nine children.  Marie worked alongside Ray on the farm, driving the grain cart during harvest, helping with livestock, gardening, baking, sewing, and canning.  Marie and Ray left the farm and moved to Columbus in 2006.  Marie enjoyed going to the casino, bowling, quilting, and going to their cabin by Niobrara.  Marie's greatest joy was spending time with her family, and it definitely involved a game or two of cards.  She never wanted anyone to go home and always asked when you were coming to visit again.
