Luciel Jonas, 95, of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Clarkson Community Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson, with Fr. Stan Schmit celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil Service, all at the church. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 9:30 AM until service time, again at the church.
Luciel Mary Jonas was born on December 10,1928, in rural Howells, Nebraska to Fred and Mary (Evert) Pieper. She married Leonard Jonas on September 5, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Tabor. The couple farmed until they retired to Clarkson in January of 1994. After moving to Clarkson to retire, she worked in the cafeteria at the Clarkson Care Center for several years. Leonard passed away on July 17, 2002. Luciel remained in their home until she moved to the Clarkson Care Center in 2019. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church – Heun until moving to Clarkson, then became a member of SS Cyril & Methodius.
Luciel enjoyed playing pitch, baking, embroidering tea towels, and Bingo. Leonard and Luciel spent most Sunday nights at big band dances in Howells and other ballrooms in the area. Luciel loved time with her family, especially at birthdays and gatherings and enjoyed a special trip with her grandson to Branson for her 87th birthday. Luciel particularly loved the Christmas season, decorating, baking, and spending the holidays with her family.

Brothers-in law: George Brichacek & Stevie Brabec
Sister-in-law: Dolores Bristol

Infant brother: Julius Pieper
