Leonard Campbell, 80, of Houston, Texas, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at St. Luke's Health - The Vintage Hospital in Houston.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17 at 10:30 AM, at Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson, Nebraska, with Rev. Michele Monroe-Clark officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Clarkson National Cemetery.
Leonard was born November 30, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Henry and Marguerite (Kempf) Campbell. He grew up in Omaha and graduated from Benson High School in 1960. Leonard then went to the University of Nebraska at Omaha and then to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He graduated in 1966 with two degrees in engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. On August 20, 1966, Leonard married the love of his life, Judith Jolene Best. They celebrated 57 years of marriage and had one daughter, Christal Denise Campbell.
Leonard worked for several engineering companies over the years, including Bendix, Crane, Kohler, and Gilbane. He worked on numerous projects across the United States. Leonard was very well known and liked by numerous people in his field. He loved his work and the places he traveled. He especially loved working for Gilbane. His career began with Bendix where he spent 4.5 years. This company was a prime contractor for the Atlantic Energy Commission. He then went to work for Crane Company (a plumbing supply company). After Crane, he went to work in Brentwood, Texas building a new Kohler plant for making pottery for homes. After 5 years he went to work for Gilbane Building Company and spent the last 30 years of his career doing projects all over the United States. He also spent a lot of time doing pharmaceutical work for various companies. His last job before retirement was with Exon Mobil in Houston. He dearly loved his work and maintained contact with many people who had worked with him and for him over the years.
Leonard will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and all his rescue animals that the family rescued over the years.

Wife – Judith Campbell
Daughter – Christal Campbell
Sister-in-law – Kathy Campbell
Two nephews and one niece and numerous cousins
Leonard was preceded in death by:
Parents – Henry and Marguerite Campbell
Brothers – Donald and Kenneth Campbell
