Leon A. Went, 39, of Columbus, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Nebraska .

Services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Leigh, Nebraska, on Friday, April 13, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Kristi Rockswold officiating. Interment will be at Leigh City Cemetery in Leigh, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Thursday, April 12, 2001 from 3:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Leigh, on Friday, April 13, 2001 from 9:30 A.M. until service time.

Leon A. Went was born January 15, 1962 in Columbus, Nebraska to Arlyn and Bernice (Hansen) Went. He grew up on a farm near Leigh, Nebraska. Leon graduated from Leigh High School in 1980 and was a self-employed truck driver.

Son - Cody Went - Columbus, NE
Daughter - Samantha Went - Columbus, NE
Brother - Noel Went - Madison, NE
Brother - Allan Went - Lincoln, NE

Leon was preceded in death by:
Grandparents: Albert and Edna (Sander) Went and Frank and Vlasta (Belina) Hansen

Footprints in the Sand

One night I had a dream. I was walking
along the beach with the Lord, and across
the skies flashed scenes from my life. In
each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in
the sand. One was mine, and one was the
Lord's. When the last scene of my life
appeared before me, I looked back at the
footprints in the sand, and to my surprise I
noticed that many times along the path of
my life there was only one set of footprints.
And I noticed that it was at the lowest and
saddest times in my life. I asked the Lord
about it: "Lord, you said that once I decided
to follow you, you would walk with me all
the way. But I notice that during the most
troublesome times in my life there is only
one set of footprints. I don't understand
why you left my side when I needed you
most." The Lord said: "My precious child, I
never left you during your time of trial.
Where you see only one set of footprints, I
was carrying you."
