Lavonne
Lopour
June 5, 1933 – September 2, 2025
Lavonne Lopour, age 92, of Clarkson, Nebraska, passed away at the Clarkson Community Care Center on September 2, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Lavonne lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and deep love for those around her.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, September 6, at 10:30 AM, at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson with Rev. Earl Underwood officiating. Interment will be in Clarkson National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and continue Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time, all at the church. Memorials are suggested as those of family choice.
LaVonne was born on June 5, 1933, near Madison, Nebraska, to Lyle and Emma (Hegr) Voss. She went to country school to the 8th grade. On July 25, 1951, she married Leonard Lopour, and together they made their home on a farm south of Clarkson. Due to the drought in 1956, they moved to San Clemente, California, where Lavonne babysat for a family. In 1957, they moved back to the farm life before moving into Clarkson. There, they raised their family and built a life grounded in love, simplicity, and service.
Lavonne worked for 25 years at the Clarkson Community Care Center, where she was dedicated to keeping the nursing home "spik and span". She also worked at the Stop Inn Café and cleaned many homes in the area including the Clarkson Fire Station. She was always known for her tireless work ethic and quiet dedication. LaVonne's faith was very important to her rarely missing a Sunday service at New Zion Presbyterian Church which she was a member for 75 years. Lavonne taught Sunday School, was a Youth Fellowship Leader and in later years helped with the snacks for Vacation Bible School. A true country girl at heart, Lavonne found joy in rodeos, tractor pulls, and country music, especially enjoying the music of Alan Jackson. Some of her most treasured memories were made traveling to Branson, Missouri, where she never missed a chance to see her favorite shows. She had a special love for animals, never failing to spoil them with treats. She would often say, "I don't know why dogs like me so much." LaVonne truly enjoyed coffee time at both of her daughters' homes.
LaVonne was the proud and loving mother of Linda (Alden) Vodehnal and Sandy (Jake) Sayers, and a grandmother who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lavonne is survived by her daughters; her grandchildren: Cameron (Dawn) Vodehnal of Lincoln, Nicholas (Breanne Ruwe) Vodehnal of Clarkson, Matthew (Kortney) Sayers of Clarkson, Karlena (Paul) Roza of Omaha, Zachary (Dawn Carter) Vodehnal of Clarkson, Leanna (Todd Lange) Sayers of Clarkson, Tyson (Sara Pfeiffer) Vodehnal of Clarkson, and Jacob (DelRae) Sayers of Leigh, as well as her great grandchildren who called her GG and nephew Larry Lopour of Howells.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, parents, Lyle and Emma Voss, infant son Kenneth Lopour, in-laws Ludvik and Emily Lopour, siblings Delmer Voss and Delaine Lopour, brother-in-law Lloyd Lopour, nephews David and Dean Lopour, and niece Nancy Rutjens
