Kristy Von Seggern, 79, of rural Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, May 17, 2026, at her home.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22 at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus with Rev. William Voelker officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue Friday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, stones, etc., memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran School or Childcare.

Kristy was born on May 12, 1947, in Orchard, Nebraska to Marvin and Edna (Schacht) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Orchard. Kristy graduated from Orchard High School in 1965 and was united in marriage to Dale Von Seggern on April 20, 1968, at St Peter Lutheran Church. Together they shared 58 years of marriage. They first resided in Lincoln, Nebraska before making rural Columbus their home in 1970.

Kristy enjoyed several jobs throughout her life including being a beautician, a switchboard operator and a cook at Columbus Lakeview High School. But the role she loved the most was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Kristy enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting and sharing her love of baking with her grandchildren. You could always find something sweet to eat in her kitchen.
