Obituary

Judy Kabes, 86, of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Countryside Homes in Madison, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson, with Father Matthew Gutowski celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM on Wednesday, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 AM, all at the church. Interment will be in Clarkson Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Bishop Neumann School or family choice.

Judy Kabes was born on April 20, 1936, in Leigh, Nebraska, to Alvin and Helen (Hanzel) Teply. She graduated from Clarkson High School and attended Wayne State College where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught for one year. Judy married the love of her life, Dennis Kabes, on April 21, 1955, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. The couple moved to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where Dennis was station during his military service. This is where their oldest daughter Lana was born. They returned to Nebraska, where they farmed in Stanton County for 42 years and the rest of their children were born. After the death of their son, Judy attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk and became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the nursing home in Stanton for 2 years. Judy and Dennis retired from the farm and moved to Texas where they lived for 19 years before returning to Nebraska in 2016. Along with her work on the dairy farm, Judy enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and working with ceramics.

Daughter: Lana Kabes of Leesburg, FL
Daughter: Carrie (Rob) Ediger of Lincoln, NE
Daughter: Lisa (Morgan) Empey of Dana Point, CA
Six Grandchildren
Two Great Grandchildren
Sister: Helen Tidics of Kansas City, MO

Judy was preceded in death by:
Parents: Alvin & Helen Teply
Son: Glenn Kabes

We could not make you stay.

He only takes the BEST.

We miss you more each day
Life doesn't seem the same
Since you've gone away.

When days are sad and lonely
And everything goes wrong
We seem to hear you whisper
"Cheer up and carry on."

Each time we see your picture
You seem to smile and say
"Don't cry, I'm in God's keeping
We'll meet again someday!"
