Joyce Miller, 80, of Columbus, Nebraska, died peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024, at her home in Columbus.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home.  All are invited to join the family at Wunderlich's immediately following the visitation.

Born November 22, 1944, in Florence, South Carolina, Joyce was tortuously given away by her young mother and found her destined family in Wilbur Matthews and Edith Green, who welcomed her with open arms and boundless love.

Raised as the adopted daughter of Southern tobacco sharecroppers, Joyce embodied the values of hard work and compassion throughout her life. She built a remarkable legacy through her eight children, and her love extended to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her later years. Her home was a sanctuary, always open to those in need of care and belonging.

After dedicating three decades to raising her family, Joyce embarked on a diverse career path that showcased her adaptability and determination. She served her community as a hospice nurse and mortuary makeup artist, while supporting her family through various roles including truck driver, water-bed manufacturer, upholsterer, electrical worker, and factory parts refurbisher across the country.
