Jerzy Cegielski

Jerzy Cegieski, 79, of Haxton, Colorado, went home to be with his Lord on September 21, 2026, in Columbus, Nebraska. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 10, 2026, from 2 PM – 7PM at Blistie’s, 37974 County Road 20, Holyoke, Colorado, 80734. “I’m A Rambling Man” – Waylon Jennings

Jerzy was born on June 12, 1947, to Tadeusz and Genovefa (Platek) Cegielski at Camp Wildflecken Germany. On December 23, 1948, Jerzy and his brother Stan, along with their parents arrived at the Port of New York after fleeing from the Nazi invasion.

The Cegielski family was sponsored by a family in Bottineau, North Dakota. Jerzy graduated from Bottineau High School in 1965. He later obtained a diploma in Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning from the North Dakota State School of Science. Jerzy served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from August 25, 1968, to October 20, 1969. Jerzy was honorably discharged, earning a Silver Star, a Purple Heart, and a Vietnam Service metal.

In 1978, Jerzy married Maria Bazan. They were blessed with two daughters, Crystal and Genevieve. Jerzy was always good for a laugh and a cold one. He always said, “Never go anywhere without your golf clubs, pool stick, or fishing pole.” Jerzy was well known in his community for his drywall business and had many friends. He will be greatly missed.

Grandchildren – Daysha Renfro and Peyton Vetick
Daughter – Genevieve Cegielski of Columbus, NE
Granddaughter – Mia Secrist
Brother – Stan Cegielski
