Jerry A. Garretson, 76, of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024.

A private family visitation will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024, in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home, Ft. Dodge, Iowa. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 9, in the Columbus Cemetery, Columbus, NE.

Jerry Allen Garretson was born January 4, 1948 in Columbus, Nebraska, to Don and Evelyn (Anderson) Garretson. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1967. He then enlisted in the Army National Guard and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1972. Soon after, Jerry met the love of his life Anna Heise at a bowling alley while out with friends. On July 7, 1977 they were married and made their home in Fort Dodge where Anna taught at the high school. Jerry was a truck driver for PIC for over 20 years. He enjoyed his Nebraska Cornhuskers and was an avid car guy.

Jerry is survived by his children, Larry Garretson of Fort Dodge, John (Melissa Joyce) Garretson of Gowrie, IA, and Amy (John) Moleseed of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, John Garretson, Jr., Kirstyn Garretson, Justyn Morgan, Aylexis Morgan, and Makayla Busma; and great-granddaughter, Kinsley Eve; sister - Corrine (Kenneth) Scholz of Columbus, NE; brother - Jason (Darla) Garretson of Scribner, NE.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents - Don and Evelyn Garretson, wife Anna Garretson, and brother David Garretson.

Memorials may be left to family discretion.
