Irma Willman, 94, of Columbus, Nebraska, died peacefully at her home at The Heritage at Meridian Gardens on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 2, at 10:30 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Patrick Sparling officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at Gass Haney Funeral Home and will continue Friday, from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Columbus Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
Irma M. Willman was born on January 3, 1930, in Leigh, Nebraska to Edward and Margaret (Mullenhoff) Korte. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh. Irma attended and graduated from Leigh High School in 1947. She married Donald M. Willman on December 2, 1950 in Leigh, and worked in banking, retail, and utilities until her retirement in 1990 from Loup River Public Power District.
Irma loved spending time with her family and attending grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events. Her family was the joy of her life. She loved to travel and was able to visit all 50 states and numerous international countries. She enjoyed cooking, decorating, playing golf, pinochle; and attending and watching Nebraska football. She was an avid Husker fan. Irma was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and took weekly inventory of Scrip. She was a hospital volunteer and served on numerous committees, including the extravaganza committee. Irma also volunteered as a surgery hostess and served Meals on Wheels. She will be fondly remembered for her caring heart and loving personality.
