Helen Hoessel, 88, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Schuyler, Nebraska.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 20, 10:30 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Kurt Ebert officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A. M.

Helen Selma Hoessel was born August 2, 1920, in rural Platte County, Nebraska, to Adolph and Pauline (Loseke) Marty, Jr. She attended Christ Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1938. She married Arthur John Henry Hoessel on June 15, 1947, at Christ Lutheran Church. Helen worked at the ASCS Office, and help her husband run Hoessel Electric. She raised four sons and one daughter. Helen was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling after Art retired in 1988. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Evening Guild at Immanuel.
