Obituary

Harold Warner, 76, of Rising City, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Emerald Nursing and Rehab in Columbus, Nebraska.

Private family burial will be held in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota.

Harold was born May 12, 1946, in Hendricks, Minnesota, to Ronald and Bonnie Warner. After graduation from high school, Harold attended South Dakota State in Brookings, where he earned a bachelors degree in agriculture. On September 27, 1967, Harold enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharge on September 3, 1969. Harold worked for the Farmers Co-Op Elevator in Shelby, Nebraska for the past 30+ years. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Harold was an reader and loved to watch movies. After Harold's retirement, he enjoyed going on cruises and would go on two to three cruises a year. The Rising City community will remember Harold as "the tall man who loved to walk." He tried to walk two miles a day, even when using a cane. Every day he would walk from his house to the gas station to have coffee "with the guys." In his younger years, Harold loved to ride motorcycles.

Harold is survived by his siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents.
