Genene Moore, 80, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Brookestone Acres of Columbus with her loving family by her side.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM, at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Edward Yang officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and continue Monday from 1:00 PM until service time, all at the funeral home. Memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Paws and Claws.
Genene Rhe Moore, the daughter of Chris and Geneva (Fox) Wunderlich was born on November 4, 1943, in Columbus. She graduated from Columbus High School, class of 1961 and then attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk. She was a stay-at-home mom and then worked at Columbus Community Hospital in Patient Accounts for 26 years before retiring.
On September 1, 1962, Genene married John H. Moore in Columbus. She loved to spend time with her family, all things Huskers, playing cards, going on walks, watching basketball and playing with dogs.
She is survived by her husband John of Columbus, her three children, Sue (Jim) Schoening of Columbus; Chris (Jan) Moore of Unadilla; and Jen (Matt) Myers of Kearney; seven grandchildren, Jenna Schoening of Lincoln, Allison (Adam) Kriz of Lincoln, Turner (Rachel) Moore of Syracuse, Morgan (Tyler) O'Connell of Lincoln, Madeline Myers of Tampa, Florida, Chloe Moore of Lincoln, and Max Myers of St. Louis, Missouri; six great-grandchildren; Audrey Burns, Noah Schoening, Jack Kriz, Greyson O'Connell, Rooney Moore, and Jamie Kriz; one brother Chris (Lavon) Wunderlich of Gilbert, Arizona; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Genene was proceeded in death by her parents; sisters Shirley (Alan) Koch and Kay (Daniel) Eisenmenger; and brother Walt Wunderlich.
