Obituary

Frances Gonsior Sock, age 90, of Genoa, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Genoa Community Hospital LTC.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 24, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa with Father Bill L'Heureux celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM with a vigil service at 7:00 PM, at the church. Visitation will continue Wednesday, from 9:30 AM until service time, all at the church. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Krakow.

Frances was born April 15, 1933, to Laudie and Anna (Schachta) Schnase in Loup City, Nebraska. She was the youngest of nine children. She attended grade school in Sherman County and high school in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating from South High School in January 1951. Frances spent her early years working for Watson Bros. Transportation and later for Omaha South High School.

On May 17, 1968, Frances was united in marriage to Raymond Gonsior. She then moved to rural Genoa (Krakow). They farmed and raised cattle. To this union was born one daughter: Judy. After the death of her first husband in 1986, Frances moved to Genoa. On April 24, 1992, she married Edward Sock. They were together until his death in 2001. Frances continued to live in Genoa until her passing.

A faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Church, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Altar Society and the American Legion Auxillary. Frances loved reading and polka music.

Frances is survived by daughter Judy (Russ) Nelson of Monroe and many nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by husbands Raymond Gonsior and Edward Sock. Parents: Laudie and Anna Schnase; Brothers: Frank, Ed, Paul, and Fred; Sisters: Clara, Anna, Helen, and Marie.
