Evelyn Hilgert, 93, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, January 28, 2022, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Patrick Sparling and Rev. Chris Ramstad officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Wednesday, from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.

Evelyn Ruth Hilgert, daughter of Edward and Ida (Krueger) Dittman was born on May 8, 1928 in Osmond, Nebraska. She was baptized as a child of God on June 20, 1937 and confirmed on June 14, 1942 at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce, Nebraska.

Evelyn attended Pierce grade school and graduated from Pierce High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Willis Hilgert on January 15, 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Pierce.

Evelyn worked for Woolworth for 22 years and for Walmart for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
