Evelyn Connelly, 84, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Genoa Community Hospital LTC.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 28, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa, with Father Bill L'Heureux celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM Vigil Service and visitation will continue Wednesday, from 9:30 AM until service time, all at the church. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery. Memorials are suggested as the donor or family choice.

Evelyn was born March 7, 1939, in Nance County, Nebraska, to Paul and Faye (Kurth) Eggli.  She attended Nance County Elementary School and graduated from Fullerton High School.  Evelyn worked at the Y-Knot Café in Columbus until she turned 18 and then went to work at Becton-Dickinson until 1962.  For the next 21 years, Evelyn worked at the Tastee Freez in Genoa, going through at least four name changes, but always known by the family as Tastee Freez.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Tom Connelly on December 30., 1961, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.  To this union three children were born, Mike, Rhonda, and Russ.  Evelyn enjoyed cooking, baking, canning the produce from Tom's garden, shopping, and playing games.  Holidays and family gatherings were all very important to her.
