Ernest V. Brabec, 93, of Clarkson, Nebraska, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at Clarkson Community Care Center in Clarkson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 27 at 10:30 AM, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson with Fr. Matt Gutowski celebrating the Mass.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM vigil service, all at the church.  Visitation continues Friday from 9:30 AM until service time, also at the church.  Interment with military honors will be at the Clarkson Catholic Cemetery.

Ernest Victor Brabec was born on December 22, 1929, in Stanton, Nebraska, to Charles and Helen (Marik) Brabec. He attended a country school and later graduated from Clarkson High School. Ernest entered the United States Army on January 24, 1952, and served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge on October 23, 1953.

On February 7, 1956, Ernest was united in marriage to Geraldine Houfek at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson. The couple was blessed with eight children. Ernest farmed his whole life on the family farm north of Clarkson. He loved his family dearly and maintained his great sense of humor until the very end.
