Obituary

Elsie Hellbusch, 87, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Morys Haven in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 10:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Cory Burma officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, 12.5 north of Columbus. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 9:45 AM at the church. Memorial may be directed to the family.

Elsie Hellbusch was born April 24, 1928, in Winner, South Dakota, to Paul and Anna (Berger) Hoffman. The family moved to the Stanton/Clarkson, Nebraska, area where Elsie worked for area farm wives helping with the cleaning, cooking, taking care of the children, and miscellaneous farm chores. On June 22, 1950, Elsie was united in marriage to Lawrence Hellbusch at St. John's Lutheran Church. They moved onto the family farm south of Creston, Nebraska, where they lived for 23 years. Elsie was a farm wife and after moving into Columbus helped Lawrence with his construction company. Throughout the years, Elsie did house cleaning and babysitting. Elsie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Son – Gary (Kim) Hellbusch of Columbus, NE
Daughter – Pam Robinson of Columbus, NE
Grandchildren – Shane and Ashley, Tammy, Jason, and Dillon
Three Great Grandchildren
Sister – Maryann (Herb) Wurdeman of Huron Lake, MN

Elsie was preceded in death by:
Parents – Paul and Anna Hoffman
Husband – Lawrence Hellbusch
Brother – Miles Hoffman
Sister – Mildred Mundil
