Duayne "Josh" Lee Joslyn, 88, of Columbus, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 6 at 2:00 PM, at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Knorr officiating. Interment with military honors by Offutt Air Force Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 84 Honor Guard, will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Monday, April 6 from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Paws & Claws in Columbus. The memorial service will be broadcast live on the Gass Haney Facebook page
Duayne was born October 8, 1937, in Montpelier, Vermont to Leon and Esther (Rickert) Joslyn. After graduating from high school, he entered the Air Force in November, 1955. During his 20 years in the Air Force he served in Korea, Alaska and Hawaii earning the Korean Defense Service Medal, Outstanding Unit Citation, National Defense Medal and Joint Service Commendation award. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV and a member of the American Legion.
After retiring from the Air Force, he joined the Platte County Sheriff’s Department in 1977, retiring in 1996. He also worked for Hadley-Braithwait Company and Freedom Foods.
Duayne married Kaye Moore on August 5, 1978.
He enjoyed watching Nascar races, Nebraska football and volleyball and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed playing with his beloved cat, Jasmine, working in his garden, taking care of his lawn and doing odd jobs around the house. Duayne traveled with his wife to the East Coast, Mount Rushmore, Colorado Springs and Hawaii.
Duayne is survived by his wife, Kaye, of over 47 years. Daughters Rhonda (Roger) Kozlow of San Diego, California, and Patricia James of Saratoga, Springs New York. Stepdaughter Becky (Bob) Shepherd of Columbus and Stepson Randy Moore of Brunswick, Ohio. Grandchildren Alicia James, Sarah (Brad) Winkelman, Kristofer Theodore, Nikki (Mike Stoner) Moore, Crystal (Tucker) Neale, Lucas (Mandy Adams) Shepherd, Paige (Carson) Reider. Great Grandchildren Aiden James, Amelia Winkelman, Tre’ Massey, Scott Shaffer, Jade Adams, Kennedi Neale, Trinidi Neale, Josie Reider and Milo Reider. Great Great Grandchild Alaia Massey and a Great Great Granddaughter due in August. His caregivers, Jessica and Tami.
Duayne was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
